01Introduction

Streams of Love Initiative (“we”, “us”) is a non-profit initiative that brings music, spoken word, and interactive sessions to elderly people and individuals with disabilities in care settings. We are based in London, United Kingdom.

This policy applies to our website and to the information you share with us when you contact us, request a session, or express interest in donating or volunteering. We are committed to complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

02What we collect

We only collect the information we genuinely need to respond to enquiries and deliver our sessions:

  • Contact details — your name, email address, phone number, and care home name when you submit our contact form.
  • Message content — the subject and details you choose to share with us.
  • Donation enquiries — the amount and any preferences you mention when you write to us about giving.
  • Basic technical data — anonymised or limited server logs that help us keep the site secure and reliable.
We do not process card payments on this website. Donations are arranged privately via email or bank transfer, so we never see or store your payment card details.

03How we use it

We use your information to:

  • Respond to your questions and booking requests for sessions.
  • Coordinate visits with care homes, including scheduling and logistics.
  • Process and acknowledge donations and Gift Aid where applicable.
  • Recruit and screen volunteers where you have expressed interest.
  • Keep a record of correspondence for safeguarding and accountability purposes.

We will never use your data to send marketing emails unless you have explicitly asked us to, and you can opt out at any time.

04Legal basis

Under the UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases to process your personal data:

  • Consent — when you submit our contact form or email us, you consent to us using your details to reply.
  • Legitimate interests — to coordinate sessions, safeguard residents, and maintain accurate records.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to keep records for safeguarding or accounting purposes.

05Sharing & third parties

We do not sell your personal data, and we share it only when necessary:

  • With a care home you have asked us to visit, to arrange and deliver a session.
  • With our volunteers, strictly on a need-to-know basis to deliver a session safely.
  • With trusted service providers (such as email or hosting) who process data on our behalf under written agreements.
  • Where we are required to by law, or to protect someone's safety in line with our safeguarding policy.

Our website embeds content from third-party platforms such as YouTube. These providers may set their own cookies — please see their privacy policies for details.

06How long we keep it

We keep correspondence and enquiry records for as long as is necessary to deliver our services and meet our safeguarding and accounting obligations, and then securely delete or anonymise them. If you ask, we will tell you how long we expect to hold your specific data and why.

07Cookies

Our website uses only essential cookies and similar technologies needed for it to function. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Embedded videos from YouTube may set cookies when you play them; you can manage your preferences on YouTube directly.

08Your rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Request erasure of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Object to or restrict our processing of your data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any of these rights, simply contact us using the details below.
